Banks, large companies and government offices often require a security test before a website goes live or stays live. The report can look alarming. It is usually a to-do list.
What the tests are
VAPT stands for vulnerability assessment and penetration testing. WAST is web application security testing. In both, a security team examines your website the way an attacker would and writes down every weakness it finds.
Reading the report
Findings are graded by severity, commonly critical, high, medium and low. Each one describes the weakness, where it was found and what could happen if it were used.
Start with critical and high. Low findings are often about tightening settings.
How remediation works
Each finding is fixed at its source in the code or the server setup, then tested. Typical fixes include updating outdated software, tightening how forms handle input, adding missing security headers and restricting access to admin areas.
This is backend work. A quick patch that hides the symptom will usually fail the retest.
The retest
After the fixes, the security team tests again and confirms each finding is closed. We stay involved until the report comes back clean, and we keep notes so the same issue does not return after the next update.
